Browns in Blue by The 5 Browns

The 5 Browns are all siblings, and the only family to ever send five children to Julliard. They are Desirae, Deondra, Gregory, Melody, and Ryan, and they're all virtuoso pianists. Browns in Blue is their third release and it finds them mining a sound that's fusing a mix of classical and jazz, which is something not entirely new to them. They cover music from Gershwin to Rachmaninoff to Chopin to Brahms. Each song is done either individually, in pairs, or with all five of them playing, with help from Chris Botti on "Home Blues from An American in Paris" and Dean Martin's vocals on the bonus track, "Everybody Loves Somebody." Browns in Blue finds no slowdown in their musical abilities or imagination. All About Jazz says, "What is most impressive about Blue is that it offers an insight into how these young phenoms hear music. Their sound yields more than technique, a quality that makes this recording highly enjoyable."
