On An Island finds David Gilmour both embracing his Pink Floyd roots and settling for a slower paced approach to his music. His third solo album has help from David Crosby, Graham Nash, Robert Wyatt, BJ Cole, and former bandmate Rick Wright. With his trademark atmospheric guitar sounds and textured and nuanced songs, David Gilmour has created an album that not only chronicles where he's come from, but also the place, both musically and emotionally, where he now feels at home. The Independent calls it, "A graceful, contemplative album that seeks to satisfy rather than to make demands upon the listener."
CD released March 7, 2006.
