Time the Conqueror is Jackson Browne's first studio release in six years. This new album finds him reliving his past and venting his frustration at current politics. "Off to Wonderland" looks back at the idealism of the 60s and "Going Down To Cuba" reminisces about visiting Cuba before the embargo, while "The Drums of War" looks at the war in Iraq and "Where Were You" indicts the government after Hurricane Katrina. This has been the pattern of Jackson Browne's career, a combination of songs about life as it has been lived, mixed with songs about social commentary. His music continues along the path set with his recent releases. The songs rarely jump out at you at first, but repeated listenings to the music ingrain them into your mind.
CD released September 23, 2008.
