Liz Phair's first album,
Exile in Guyville, was a woman's response to The Rolling Stones'
Exile on Main Street. Now more than ten years later, she's released
Somebody's Miracle, which is mostly keyed off Stevie Wonder's
Songs in the Key of Life. While retaining the more "pop" sound of her previous release,
Liz Phair in many places, Liz Phair strives to return to her independent roots, although not as angry as when she first burst on the scene.
Somebody's Miracle has Liz Phair taking a more nuanced look at relationships and life, but still with the edge and sexiness that's defined her music. The New York Daily News says, "
Miracle contains the singer's most winning melodies to date, not to mention her most confident vocals.
CD released October 4, 2005.
