Kill to Get Crimson is Mark Knopfler's fifth solo album since the breakup of Dire Straits, in addition to his bestselling collaboration with Emmylou Harris,
All the Roadrunning. The first single from the album, "Punish the Monkey," is perhaps its most upbeat, while the majority of the songs are more introspective songs built on an ensemble sound around Knopfler's superb guitar playing.
Kill to Get Crimson finds him quietly confident is his musical abilities. Rolling Stone says, "
Kill to Get Crimson, then, is at once egoless and supremely accomplished, a testament to the rare talent that enables a master to say something simply and beautifully, and leave it exactly at that.
CD released September 18, 2007.
