With
Hope and Desire, Susan Tedeschi puts aside her songwriting skills to concentrate her blues vocal skills on interpreting others' songs. She covers such songs as The Rolling Stones' "You Got the Silver," Bob Dylan's "Lord Protect My Child," Aretha Franklin's "Share Your Love With Me" and Ray Charles' "Tired of My Tears." She's also turned guitar duties on each track over to Doyle Bramhall, Jr. with the accompaniment by her husband, Derek Trucks, on three songs. The result puts Tedeschi's signature voice wringing every bit of hope and desire out of these classic songs, backed by superior instrumentation to lay a solid foundation beneath it. The amazon.com reviewer says, "But it's thrilling how Tedeschi applies her gospel-trained vocalizing to these 12 numbers, all tales of hope and desire, delivered at an unhurried pace so the delicate filigrees of her phrasing make them resonate with absolute emotional conviction."
CD released October 11, 2005.
